Why Haiti? (Video from Compassion International)
Compassion International is an organization that has been reaching out to the people of Haiti for over 40 years. Though this is not the organization that I have partnered with to distribute the blankets in Haiti I wanted to make sure to share the statistics mentioned in their video.
Thanks for watching and for loving Haiti.

H2H UPDATE 02-01-10
HUGS 2 HAITI UPDATE
Hi Everybody!
Kelly here!
I am excited and a bit overwhelmed at the response to this project and am looking forward to see how it is used in the lives of the Haitians and people who are serving them.
I just wanted to address a couple of topics that have come up in the last week or so....
1. YARN TYPE
It is very important that we use LIGHT weight yarns when making the squares because it consistently HOT in all parts of Haiti. Because of this and the fact that acrylic yarn is flammable I will NOT be accepting ARCRYLIC or WOOL squares. (If you are reading this and have already sent me something made out of this type of yarn I will set it aside and use it for another project)
2. DEADLINE
I do not have a deadline for collecting the squares because I am committed to the project long term because the needs in Haiti are great and very long term. With that being said the SOONER I can get squares sent to me the sooner the blankets are finished and set to Haiti. If you are a person who needs a deadline sending me squares by the 15 or 30th of the month (you choose) :) will be fine
3. HUGS 2 HATI KNITTING NIGHT
On March 5, the Student Life Department of Union University located in Jackson, Tennessee will be hosting a KNITTING NIGHT on campus. This is a chance for people get together for a time of knitting, fellowship and to learn more about Hugs 2 Haiti as I will be sending them a presentation. If you would like more information please contact me (kdizne@gmail.com)
4. WHERE TO MAIL THE SQUARES
If you live near the address on the blog Where To Send Squares please use one of those places as a drop off point and they will mail squares to me in bulk (cost effecient) If you dont live near one of those spots please click here---->Kelly to send me an email and I will send you a surface address to send the squares to. ( I will not be posting it here until I can get post office box due to the address being my place of residence)
5. PUBLICITY
I am still getting the word out about this wonderful opportunity to send love to Haiti one blanket at a time. If you have any ideas on how to help get the word out or want to get the word out just send me an email (kdizne@gmail.com)
God bless!
